Hello, I'm April Mills of The Knitting Mills.
In 1969 I borrowed a Studio 301 knitting machine from an Aunt and fell in love with machine knitting. But that machine had to be returned, and two children later I bought a Studio 301 in 1974. Constantly trading up since then, Studio, Brother, and Passap machines (6 total) are presently in my studio.
"The Knitting Mills" has published designs in knitting publications since 1990. I was the technical editor for the Machine Knitters Source magazine for six years, until May, 1997, when the magazine moved to Texas. My books are now available on the Books page.
I have managed production machine knitters for hat, sweater, and Christmas stocking companies. The Knitting Mills has sold garments at juried Arts and Crafts Shows since 1984, and I also offer custom, made-to-order sweaters, in addition to repairs and conversions.
Teaching at knitting seminars is an activity that I enjoy. I have given presentations in the United States and Canada, and recently Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, and Norway. I taught at the two Technical and Design Forums and Brit-Am 1996.
I can teach at your seminar or guild workshops.
